Smoky Mountain (DONATION)

The people of Smoky Mountian live in the trash heaps of the Philippines.  Please give your support to help purchase a plot of land for the people.  Proceeds of this vinyled item will go to help purchase a plot of land for the people of Smoky Mountin to help build a community, a church, and a house for Pastor Banaue (whose current house is the size of a small bathroom).  The funds and other support will be hand delivered by the AKPCEM mission team in the summer of 2010.

From Pastor Tony of AKPCEM:

The primary objective is to aid Pastor Reyes’s ministry to church members living in a garbage landfill community on Smokey Mountain.  They hold services outdoors under a weakly-supported canopy that offers little or no protection from the elements.  Due to these conditions, services often cannot be held on rainy days.  Pastor Reyes has been hoping and praying to be able to raise enough money to buy a parcel of land on which to build a church for these people.  As members of AKPC, we desire to partner with Pastor Reyes in this endeavor by raising $4000 towards the purchase of land and building materials.  This is an important mission that will allow for those living in dire conditions to gain greater hope and joy in Christ through consistent Sunday worship in a safe, clean, and weather-proof environment.

A second purpose for our trip would be to help raise money to build a home for Pastor Celios who is living with and ministering to the indigenous people in the mountainous region of Banaue.  Although past missionary efforts have provided his congregation with a building in which to hold Sunday service, his own quarters are sadly impoverished and insufficient to meet the needs of himself and his family.  Pastor Celios’s family of four is crammed in a one-room shanty the size of a bathroom that serves as a bedroom, dining room, and living area all in one.  It is our hope that on this trip we can begin work building a decent home for the pastor and his family where they will have the space to live, grow, and continue to serve God in his ministry.  The cost for this project will be $2000.
